It may not suit the material
A product intended for one pipe material or diameter may be unsuitable for another. Do not assume that a tight-looking cover is a compatible connection.
It may hide a longer split
The visible leak can be only part of the damaged section. A provider needs to assess the surrounding pipe rather than judge the line by the patch.
It does not resolve exposure
Where freezing contributed to damage, covering the opening does not address the exposed pipe route. Insulation or a different protective approach may also need assessment.
It does not dry hidden materials
Reduced dripping does not remove water already inside a wall or ceiling. Ask separately about moisture assessment and drying.
It still needs a defined follow-up
Tell the provider what was applied, when and where. Ask for a clear permanent repair scope and checking procedure before returning the line to normal use.
